AIS was founded in 2006 as a means of providing personalized ethical development programming to students across the country. The Seminar traces its origins to the University of Maryland at College Park, where it was developed as a core component of the University’s new “modified” honor code.
Content for the seminar has been a collaborative effort between the three AIS founders: Gary Pavela J.D. (applied ethics and law); DeForest McDuff, Ph.D (economics and management); and Donald McCabe Ph.D (international business/statistical analysis of academic dishonesty in schools and colleges).
Last year nearly 1,500 students at 30 colleges and universities nationwide successfully completed the Academic Integrity Seminar. Recent institutions joining AIS include the University of California at Berkeley; Towson University in Maryland, Lehigh University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
